For my final project I decided to make a book titled “Gender Poetry”. The title is inspired by a quote by Leslie Feinberg, a butch lesbian author.
The book examines the relationship between lesbianism and gender identity. It contains my own personal ecperience of the topic as well as other people’s stories and perspectives of this subject.
The book mainly comprises of typography and illustration, as well as some photography.
While this book may serve as a source of information to those outside of the LGBT community, the main aim of this project was to create a space for gender non conforming lesbians to share their experiences and read about other people who may be experiencing something similar. I wanted it to be a source of comfort and validation to those with a personal connection to the subject.
